Pipe Repair the New Way

A lot’s changed since the days when we dug up the ground to find the cause of a sewer or stormwater pipe problem. Now, we have pipe relining. Pipe relining offers us an efficient way to create a new pipe within the old pipe—no digging required. The new pipe is robust and long-wearing, and the process is cheaper, tidier and less disruptive. The perfect solution for areas where the pipe is enclosed under buildings, concrete, or landscaped areas.

What is Pipe Relining?

Pipe relining is a no-dig alternative to installing a new sewer or stormwater pipe. Rather than excavating the ground to install new pipework, pipe relining replaces a damaged pipe from within.

How does it work? A special epoxy-resin liner is fed into the existing pipe, where it is inflated so that it securely fits the pipe. The resin cures over a period of hours, and what you’re left with is a new, high-quality pipe that will resist heat, corrosion, and extreme water pressure.

How Pipe Relining Works

1

Inspect pipes

We use a CCTV drain camera to inspect your pipes internally. This is a small camera attached to a cable that we feed through your drain system. Whilst the camera travels through the pipes, we watch the footage, and observe the exact location of blockages or pipe damage, and determine if pipe relining is needed.

2

Clean & prepare

We clean out the pipes with a high-pressure water jet. This removes any debris so that the resin liners fit to the actual size of the pipe and have a clean surface to adhere to. If there’s an obstruction in the pipe, such as a tree root, we use robotic cutting methods to remove the object before we reline the pipes.

3

Install the lining

We measure the length of the damaged section of pipe to ensure the liner is the correct size. We then proceed to reline the pipes which involves inserting a flexible fiberglass or polyester liner saturated with epoxy resin into the existing pipe. The liner is inflated within the old pipe until it firmly presses against the pipe walls.

We allow the epoxy to cure and harden via ambient temperature, or we may use steam or hot water to cure the resin.

4

Final check

When completely cured, we do a final CCTV inspection to ensure the pipe is correctly positioned and completely sealed.

The result is a durable, smooth and corrosion-resistant pipe that will last for decades!

The Benefits of Pipe Relining

  • There’s no need to excavate, which results in less mess and disruption to lawns and gardens. (It’s also quieter, which is a win for residents and businesses).
  • Relined pipes are durable, and have a long life expectancy.
  • The liner ensures there are no seams or joints. Eliminating joints reduces the possibility of leaks and ensures roots don’t intrude through seam gaps.
  • The inner surface of the relined pipe is smooth and non-porous, so it resists the build up of residue.
  • Pipe relining costs less than excavation and pipe replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most damaged pipes including those with cracks, root intrusion, corroded joints, or minor collapses are suitable for pipe relining. We carry out a CCTV inspection first to assess the pipe and will always give you an honest recommendation before proceeding.

We can reline sewer lines, stormwater drains, junctions, long sewer mains, and inspection shafts across a range of pipe materials including clay, PVC, cast iron, and concrete. Not sure if your pipe qualifies? Give us a call and we’ll advise you.

We use high-quality epoxy resin liners engineered for plumbing applications. Once cured, the liner is non-toxic, structurally strong, and fully compliant with Australian plumbing standards.

We start with a CCTV inspection, then clean the pipe using high-pressure water jetting. The resin-saturated liner is inserted, inflated, and cured in place. A final CCTV inspection confirms the repair before we leave the site.

It sure can and this is one of its biggest advantages. Because relining is completely trenchless, we can repair pipes beneath concrete, tiled floors, and driveways without breaking anything up, saving significant time and cost.

Every job is followed by a post-installation CCTV inspection to confirm the liner has bonded correctly. Our work is backed by a workmanship guarantee, and the epoxy liner is rated to last 50+ years under normal conditions.

Yes, pipe relining is actually ideal for older homes where pipes may be brittle or difficult to access. Rather than risking further damage by digging around aged pipework, the relining process reinforces the existing pipe from the inside without putting any stress on the surrounding infrastructure.

While relining has a higher material cost, it’s almost always more cost-effective overall as it eliminates excavation with no breaking up concrete, no landscaping restoration, and less labour. We provide transparent, obligation-free quotes so you can make a fully informed decision.
